Joined the hospitality industry in 1978 with Holiday Inns Inc, Memphis, TN. Spent several years with Holiday Inn in both field and corporate positions. During his corporate assignments, he was a member of the product development task force that initiated the Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, and Crown Plaza brands. As a member of the field operations team he was a District Director for Kansas City district consulting with as many as 37 franchise hotels in a four state area.
Upon leaving Holiday Inn in the early 1990ís, he was an independent product consultant for several years consulting with hotels on renovations and new construction projects. In 1999 he founded Janko Hospitality Management Co.
At Janko Hospitality (JH) he was President of a hotel management company managing numerous properties in the Midwest. They managed hotels including full service, limited service and extended stay properties, that were branded by IHG, Hilton, Choice, and La Quinta brands.
Over the 13 year span at JH, he volunteered for the IAHI organization on regional, the Staybridge Suites, and the Holiday Inn Express Committees. He also has served on the Choice Hotels regional advisory board and served as a founding member of the La Quinta Franchise Advisory Board.
Prior to the hospitality industry, he was affiliated with a major corporation in the home furnishings industry in both field management and corporate positions.
Education- Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA: BS degree in Finance and Business Management
Military Service: Served in U.S. Air Force in both the US and foreign areas and is a veteran of Viet Nam war.
